Thanks, Bryan. It's always nice when smart people agree with me! I am surprised as well about the absence of these songs from colleges and churches. Hopefully this will start to change.

just saw your blog so this reply is a little behind the times.

I agree. I listen to their stuff a lot. The lyrics make one stop and think. And the music doesn't seem overly-manipulative that rouses one up into a frenzy. I'm (somewhat) surprised that I don't hear their stuff more, like on college chapel services or "in-the-know" churches who supposedly keep up with the latest and "greatest."

Oh my word. You put down in this blog things I thought only my wife and I were thinking. I am sooooooooooooo tired of services that bring out a chorus with one verse or two and they are repeated over, and over,...well you know. The comment about a song that could be sung about a gals latest boyfriend is right on,....why do we do this and think it touches our heart so it must be a good chorus. Oh,....and the "Praise Choruses" that should be a solo but our praise team tries to get us to all sing them "EXACTLY" together.....and hello,......whatever happened to "HARMONY"?
Sorry,....you just hit a nerve with me. Don't get me wrong,...I do enjoy some of them,....the ones I can make up a good harmony part for.
Thanks Chris. Mike
